Arunachal is an integral part of India

Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao said today that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India. She dismissed China’s objection to exiled Tibetan Spiritual leader Dalai Lama’s proposed visit to the Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

Making New Delhi’s stance clear on the issue, Mrs. Rao said that there were no restrictions on Dalai Lama’s visit to the state since it is an integral part of India.

The reaction comes days after China expressed its concerns over Prime Minister's recent visit to Arunachal Pradesh and asked New Delhi to address China’s concern.

Meanwhile, in a statement, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said that they demand the Indian side address China's serious concerns and not trigger disturbance in the disputed area so as to facilitate the healthy development of India-China relationships.

U.S. job losses unexpectedly Exceeded

U.S. job cuts exceeded unexpectedly on September, 2009 and the unemployment rate reached the highest level since 1983. The Labor Department figures prompted Barack Obama to say he’s working to “explore any and all additional measures” to spur growth, and underscored forecasts for the Federal Reserve to keep its benchmark interest rate near zero through 2010.

It is reported that Payrolls dropped by 263,000 in September, exceeding the median forecast in Bloomberg’s survey, with losses extending from cash-strapped state and local governments to retailers to builders. The jobless rate rose to 9.8 percent from 9.7 percent in August, while working hours matched a record low.

Chris Rupkey, the Cheif financial economist at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd. said in New York that “This has the potential to put a big stop sign on the road to economic recovery,”. He continued “The harder jobs are to get, the harder and longer this road to recovery is going to be.”

In another report, the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index closed down 0.5 percent at 1,025.21 in New York trading, losing 1.8 percent for the week. Ten-year Treasury yields rose to 3.22 percent late yesterday from 3.18 percent the prior day.

US disaster assistance teams reached Samoa

AFP reported that US disaster assistance team reached tsunami-devastated American Samoa and were providing critically needed aid including emergency power and medical supplies.

Federal Emergency Management Agency ( Craig Fugate said that 2 disaster recovery teams arrived on Wednesday on Samoa and that initial assistance carried on through the night into Thursday.

They have have over 140 people on the ground coordinating and supporting staff including members of the US Coast Guard, the Hawaii National Guard and FEMA,

The US agencies had begun distributing food and water, power generators, medical supplies and other emergency aid.

Craig Fugate would not give casualty figures for the US territory which President Barack Obama declared a major disaster zone, but Samoan officials said regional deaths had reached 148, including 31 on American Samoa.
